InstaFriday No.49

Sorry for being pretty MIA this week. I just finished up the semester and my Summer has officially started so hopefully I won't be taking too many more unplanned blogging breaks. I've missed you peeps. But I'm back just in time for a quick little InstaFriday post. Not too much Instagramming going on here the last couple weeks. But I do have a few sweet pics to share today.
I've shared vaguely about my boyfriend being gone and I haven't decided whether I should continue to be vague or not. So for now, here's why. That hand and those hospital bracelets are his. I got to see him last weekend after about a month away and holding his hand was the best thing in the world. I love this picture.
And this is another special guy in my life. My adorable cuddly little "nephew" asleep in my arms. Not much is better than a sleeping baby. I could eat him up!
I took part in my first #tbt yesterday. For those of you who don't know, it means Throwback Thursday, a fun little Instagram trend. This is my bestie/roomie back in high school when we took a trip to Hawaii with my parents. Oh how I wish we could go back right this minute!

And that's all I have for you this week, folks. Have a lovely Memorial Day weekend and shop some sales!!

Neon Toes

I may have mentioned a time or two that I am a fan of this whole neon trend. I've been told that those of you alive in the 80s are a bit unsure and maybe even turned off by it. But the good news is, the new neon is much more tasteful. And let's face it. The 80s were fun, right?! So why not bring a little of it back?

My favorite neon trend that I've yet to try is the neon footwear. I love seeing all those fashionistas with their all black look and a pop of neon pumps! So fun!

Here are some of my fave ways to have dressed up neon toes!

I may not like feet. But I LOVE shoes! So much fun!

Sandals I'll Never Afford

There are just some things in life I don't want to spend money on. Most of them are un-fun things. Off the top of my head: pajamas, workout clothes, t-shirts, and sandals. Sandals just seem like something that should never be more than $20. You wear them in the san for goodness sake. Why spend money on something that will just need to be replaced in a couple years? Am I ridiculously cheap? Is it just because I live in San Diego and we wear these things year round?

I'm not a huge flip flop fan. They're very convenient, yes. But i just hate squeezing that little piece between my toes to keep them on and they aren't the most decorative footwear out there. So most of the time (other than my Rainbow sandals of course) I wear a flat sandal with a strap on the back. Now I sound like a toddler. I mean the cute kind people! Something with a little more oomph that actually adds to my outfit.

But alas, mine are pretty basic and mostly from Target. So here is my "not-gonna-happen" sandal wish list.

1. Tory Burch $200
2. Kate Spade $198
3. Alexander Wang $465
4. Dolce & Gabbana $660
5. YSL $1,165
6. Rebecca Minkoff $195
7. RED Valentino $150
8. Brian Atwood $250

*Details here if you're lucky enough to afford these puppies ;)

Reworking It

My fashion tastes are always changing. At least by the week, if not by the day. I've always had a hard time defining my style, the reason being I just like a whole lot of different looks. I always have to dress the way I feel. If I'm feeling particularly girly, I put on a lace skirt and some flats. If I'm feeling a bit hipster, I head for my chambray shirt and combat boots. If I'm feeling more edgy, I choose black basics and chunky jewelry. Sometimes I even shift my look in the middle of the day to feel more comfortable. I hope this just means I'm eclectic and not schizophrenic.

Lately I've been drawn to more casual looks (think 80s and country mixed with J. Crew- ok, maybe I should look into that schizophrenia thing). I got some new basics, more casual than I usually wear. I recently got a big faded denim shirt, white converses, and light wash skinny jeans. Apparently I'm heading back in time.

All of those words written above were somehow supposed to arrive at the fact that I have some new additions to my wardrobe that need to be worked into outfits. So obviously I used Polyvore and here's what I came up with.

Let's do this, Converses!

Just Peachy

Peachy hues are totally in right now! Whether you decide to call it coral, peach, salmon, or just plain pink- wear it. These photos were taken a few months ago. Clearly my bestie knows what's up. Check out her awesome peach and black combo with her bright statement necklace! Love it!
What a cutie!! Thanks for being my model, Ash!
